The Department of Physiotherapy celebrated World Heart Day on September 29, 2025, with an insightful and engaging event centered around the theme “Too Young to Have a Heart Attack?”. The program aimed to raise awareness about the rising incidence of heart-related issues among younger populations and the role of preventive care and lifestyle management.
The event began with a thought-provoking session led by Dr. Deepak Yadav, Assistant Professor and a Heart-Lung Transplant Physical Therapist, who emphasized the importance of early heart health education and the role of physiotherapy in cardiac rehabilitation. Drawing from his clinical experience, Dr. Yadav highlighted how increasing stress, sedentary lifestyles, and poor dietary habits are making younger individuals vulnerable to cardiovascular diseases.
Prof. (Dr.) Deptee Warikoo, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, also addressed the audience, underlining the significance of physiotherapists in promoting heart health and integrating preventive strategies into daily practice.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Keerty Mathur, who concluded the session with a note of appreciation for the speakers and participants, encouraging students to stay proactive in spreading awareness about cardiovascular well-being.
To reinforce the message of heart health, the event concluded with an aerobic exercise session, enthusiastically attended by 112 students. The activity aimed to promote physical activity as a simple yet powerful tool in maintaining a healthy heart.
The celebration not only educated but also inspired the students to adopt heart-healthy lifestyles and advocate for preventive healthcare in their communities.
