World Ecology Day Celebrations

To mark the occasion of World Ecology Day on 31/10/2025, the Department of Forestry of Dolphin PG Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences, Dehradun, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) and EIACP, Dehradun, organized special lectures and Terrarium Making Activity. The events aimed to promote awareness about ecological balance and the importance of sustainable environmental practices among students.

The program began with a warm welcome address by Dr A.K. Uniyal of the Department of Forestry, who served as the facilitators of the event. The distinguished resource persons from ICFRE, Mr. Shivan Sharma and Mr. Navjot Singh Payal, shared their valuable insights on ecological conservation, the role of forestry in maintaining ecosystem health, and the need for youth participation in environmental protection.

As part of the celebration, a Terrarium Making Activity was conducted, where students from various departments of the institute showcased their creativity and understanding of ecological concepts through innovative terrarium designs. The activity aimed to blend scientific knowledge with artistic expression, reflecting the theme of ecological harmony.

The event was judged by Prof. Sas Biswas, Dr. K. P. Tripathi, and Dr. Beena Joshi Bhatt, who evaluated the terrariums based on creativity, design, and ecological concept. The winners were awarded prizes and certificates for their outstanding efforts:

• 1st Prize: Shreshtha and group
• 2nd Prize: Ruchika and group
• 3rd Prize: Nayayum Lombi and group

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Principal, IQAC Coordinator, and Dean Academics of Dolphin Institute, whose encouragement and support greatly contributed to the success of the event.

The Department of Forestry extends heartfelt gratitude to the resource persons from ICFRE, the judging panel for their valuable time, guidance, and cooperation. Their collective efforts made the World Ecology Day celebration a memorable and inspiring occasion for all participants.
