04 April 2026, Dolphin PG Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences organized a special educational field visit under its ‘Community Engagement’ initiative to promote social responsibility among students. A total of 67 students from various departments including BBA, BCA, B.Com, Biotechnology, Political Science, and Psychology participated in the visit to HESCO, Shuklapur.
Focus on Responsible Citizenship
The main objective of the program was to nurture students into responsible citizens by extending learning beyond classroom education. The initiative emphasizes the application of academic knowledge and professional skills for the betterment of society. The institute strongly believes that meaningful contributions can be made only when youth understand rural environments and local challenges.
Exposure to Sustainable Models
During the visit, students explored several sustainable development models developed by HESCO, including:
- Rural Self-Reliance: Waste management and biomass energy technologies aimed at making villages energy-efficient.
- Water Conservation: Demonstrations of water recharging techniques and modern applications of traditional water mills (Gharat).
- Local Livelihood: Insights into food processing units and the utilization of local resources for income generation.
Expert Interaction
During the session, Dr. Joshi interacted with students and shared valuable insights into HESCO’s grassroots initiatives. He emphasized the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development, encouraging students to become aware and responsible citizens.
