Webinar on World Intellectual Property Day 2026

The Department of Biotechnology, in association with the IP Cell, RAC DIBNS, successfully organized a webinar on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day 2026 on 27 April 2026 at 3:00 PM. The event was conducted under the global theme “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate” with the objective of promoting awareness about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), innovation, and entrepreneurship among students, researchers, and faculty members.

The webinar featured Dr. Saurabh Yadav, Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, HNBGU, Srinagar, as the keynote speaker. During his insightful session, Dr. Yadav highlighted the growing importance of intellectual property rights in the sports industry, innovation ecosystem, and academic research. He elaborated on various aspects of intellectual property including patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and broadcasting rights, and explained their practical applications in sports technology, branding, media, and entrepreneurship.

The session aimed to create awareness regarding the importance of protecting innovative ideas and scientific research. Participants were encouraged to explore opportunities related to patent filing, innovation-driven startups, and commercialization of research work. The webinar witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, researchers, and entrepreneurs, making the session highly interactive and informative.
