Department of Zoology Organizes Guest Lecture on “Fish Monitoring and Their Assessment”

The Department of Zoology at Dolphin (PG) Institute of Biomedical & Natural Sciences, Dehradun, successfully organized an informative Guest Lecture on the topic “Fish Monitoring and Their Assessment.” The session aimed to provide students with valuable insights into fish biodiversity assessment, aquatic ecosystem conservation, and modern monitoring techniques used in fisheries and wildlife research.

The expert lecture was delivered by Dr. Rahul Rana, Principal Project Associate at the Wildlife Institute of India, who shared his extensive knowledge and practical experience in the field of aquatic biodiversity and ecological monitoring.

During the session, Dr. Rahul Rana elaborated on various methodologies used for fish diversity assessment, monitoring protocols, ecological evaluation, and scientific techniques for studying fish population dynamics. He also highlighted the importance of aquatic fauna in maintaining ecosystem balance and emphasized the need for conservation of freshwater biodiversity through scientific monitoring and research-based approaches.

Students of B.Sc. and M.Sc. Zoology, along with faculty members, actively participated in the lecture, making the session highly interactive and academically enriching. The lecture provided participants with exposure to contemporary research practices and field-based assessment techniques widely used in fisheries and wildlife studies.
