The PUNARVASU Astronomy Club of Dolphin (PG) Institute of Biomedical & Natural Sciences proudly represented the institute at the National Workshop on Data Science in Astronomy held at UPES, Bidholi Campus, from 24–26 February 2026.
During the workshop, the club presented its flagship outreach initiative, Stars Over Hills, a programme dedicated to promoting astronomy education in remote hilly regions of Uttarakhand. The presentation highlighted impactful activities such as hands-on telescope making workshops, guided night-sky observation sessions, teacher engagement programmes, community stargazing events, and student-led outreach initiatives in rural schools.
The initiative focuses on experiential and inquiry-based learning, enabling students to explore scientific concepts beyond textbooks. By bringing astronomy directly to underserved communities, the programme fosters scientific curiosity, practical skills, and career awareness in STEM fields.
The students confidently shared their experiences and outcomes with a national academic audience, demonstrating how structured outreach efforts can strengthen grassroots science education and cultivate scientific temper among young learners.
This achievement reflects the institute’s continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement.
