The Department of Physiotherapy at Dolphin PG Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences organized a special webinar on the occasion of World Cerebral Palsy Day on 6th October 2025, focusing on the theme “Recent Advancements in Cerebral Palsy Treatment.”
The resource person for the session was Dr. Pragna Prakash Landge, Associate Professor at KSPR, KPGU, Vadodara, who shared valuable insights on the latest research, therapeutic strategies, and interdisciplinary approaches in managing Cerebral Palsy.
Cerebral palsy is a group of conditions that affect movement and posture. It is caused by damage that occurs to the developing brain, most often before birth. Symptoms appear during infancy or preschool years and vary from very mild to serious. Children with cerebral palsy may have exaggerated reflexes. The arms, legs and trunk may appear floppy. Or they may have stiff muscles, known as spasticity. Symptoms also can include irregular posture, movements that can’t be controlled, a walk that’s not steady or some combination of these. There is no cure, but treatments can help improve function. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 164 students attending the session virtually. The webinar provided an excellent opportunity for students and faculty to deepen their understanding of evolving treatment modalities and best practices in CP management. Prof. (Dr.) Deptee Warikoo, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, extended a warm welcome to the resource person and highlighted the importance of such academic engagements in enhancing clinical knowledge and awareness.
The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Keerty Mathur, acknowledging the speaker’s contribution and the active participation of attendees. The webinar was coordinated by Dr. Diksha Bhatt, who ensured the smooth execution of the event.
The department continues its commitment to academic excellence and social responsibility by organizing events that bridge the gap between education and community health awareness.
