World Disability Day

Department of Physiotherapy, Dolphin PG Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences, Dehradun celebrated World Disability Day on 3/12/2022. To make the day memorable, the Department organised academic and cultural events. The event was inaugurated by Director, Mr V K Nagpal, Additional Director, Mr Sunil Kaul and Dr Shruti Sharma, IQAC Coordinator.

A slogan competition with the theme, ‘Disability and accessibility’ was organised by the Department. Various students participated in the event. Akshat from BPT 4 year was awarded first prize. Second prize was shared by Aditi BPT 4 year and Sonam BPT 3 year. Third prize was shared by Pooja BPT 2 year and Digvijay BPT 1 year. All the winners were awarded with cash prize. Judges for the event were Dr Shruti Sharma, IQAC Coordinator, Dr Versha Percha, HOD Department of Chemistry, Dr Beena Joshi Bhatt, HOD,  Department of Zoology.

Students of BPT 4 year and MPT 1 year presented various topics related to disability and prevention. Students also presented a skit on, ‘Awareness about disability and role of Physiotherapy’. Various cultural events were also presented by the students of the department.

A special lecture on, ‘Role of Physiotherapy in Disability Management’ was organised in the post lunch session. Speaker of the event, Dr Surender Dhalwal, HOD, Department of clinical & rehabilitation psychology and research, NIVH Dehradun enlightened the students about the psychological perspective of patients and the rehab team in Disability Management. Students interacted with Dr Dhalwal and were answered for every query. Dr Deptee Warikoo, HOD of Department presented sapling to the guest. The organisers of the event Dr Keerty Mathur and Dr Ashish Dev Gera along with faculty Dr Diksha Bhatt and Dr Nidhi Rawat thanked the guest and the management for the event.
